Iron Maiden’s Trooper Beer
The Brief
Create a special packaging carton for Iron Maiden’s Trooper beer brand, marking its 10th anniversary. The carton needs to accommodate a 600ml bottle, be robust and strong, and capture the spirit of the Trooper brand. The design should be eye-catching, creative, and unique.
The delivery
To accommodate the 600ml highly decorated bottle, the carton needed to be robust and strong. For the material, CrownBoard Prestige® with a metalized face was used, combining strength and printability in a unique way. Opaque white subdued all the non-foil areas and two tones of greys were added – a dark grey for the background onto which iconic Trooper skulls were inset in a lighter grey. The copper foil effect was matched to the labels and all none metallic areas had a matt varnish applied, with the silver and copper foil areas being accentuated with a gloss varnish. To finish the design, a multi-level emboss was used to lift the swords and the trooper logo. To maintain the premium feel of the carton, the finished design has no visible raw edges throughout.
The customer was delighted with the end result, saying: “The cartons fully exceed our expectations, with the quality, premium feel and attention to detail really making the carton stand out. Plus, the service levels from the Falconer team were exceptional throughout”.
compass box whisky
The Brief
To create a carton that has synergy with Compass Box range whilst creating a bold individuality. The highly complex Peat Monster image needed to come to life with saturated inks over printing and under pinning a detailed hot foil to create a 3D look to the main illustration.

Key to the brief required us to draw on our supplier base to source a foil which would overprint effectively and a foiling die, that would retain the high level of detail needed. The first process was to create a base print, with a subtle base colour which was used to offset the earthy tones of the illustration, being key to, keeping brand continuity. The printed detail in the illustration, was developed and printed to sit below the foil, to achieve a 3D effect. A very complex solid brass die, allowed the hot foil to bring the Peat Monster illustration to life and complement the 3D effect. Vibrant inks were then printed on top of the foil in tandem with the matt and gloss varnish. This really makes the Peat Monster illustration pop and draws your eye to all the layers of texture and detail in the illustration. The customer was delighted with the result and highlights the innovation and development created here at Falconer.
